ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
On November 26, 2025, my 2025 BMW XM experienced complete drivetrain failure while my wife and two children were in a Kansas City parking lot. The vehicle displayed "drivetrain malfunction," would not engage any gear, and was completely inoperable. They were stranded in an unsafe area for 40 minutes awaiting a flatbed tow truck—the only option for this 6,100 lb hybrid. At Baron BMW (Invoice #696591), diagnostics found fault codes 032B51, BA092C, BA09B8, BA0A45, BA0023—all related to the Electric Motor Electronics (EME) module. BMW's test plans indicated EME replacement was needed. However, BMW engineering (TSARA Case #4548336) instructed the dealer to simply CLEAR THE CODES and release the vehicle if faults didn't return after two drive cycles. NO PARTS REPLACED. NO SOFTWARE UPDATED. NO ROOT CAUSE IDENTIFIED. BMW erased the diagnostic evidence without fixing anything. Their own system flagged a critical component for replacement, yet the "fix" was deleting the fault codes. SAFETY CONCERNS: 1) Complete propulsion loss strands occupants in dangerous locations 2) 6,100 lb vehicle losing power in traffic creates collision risk 3) Cannot be conventionally towed, limiting recovery options (i.e. parking garages, parallel parked on a hill, etc..) 4) No root cause fix means repeat failures likely This defect poses unreasonable risk. BMW's failure to correct the underlying issue despite flagging a critical component suggests a systemic software problem in the XM hybrid drivetrain. Request NHTSA investigate this defect pattern.

WHEELS
Purchased 2024 XM in July 2024. Since then all 4 rims have cracked. Quote by BMW to replace $2500. If replaced I would have paid 10k in a year to replace wheels plus the 3k spent in May and June 2025 for a set of new tires. This week my PSI was zero. I could hear the air coming out. Took XM to a tire shop to find out nothing was wrong. The tire was fine and the previously repaired crack was fine. The shop added air and it held. Then the next day, I could hear air seeping from another tire. My husband drove it around the subdivision and came back home to add air. The seeping had stopped. There’s not a week that I’m not adding air to the tires. I keep a compressor in my XM, whereas last week I had to inflate the tires after work twice. The tire shop unbiased opinion is that, there’s a flaw in the design such that, the wheels are too big for 23” tires, with inadequate spacing between the two. The shop that repairs the rims charges $195. As a women Driving this vehicle, it gives me anxiety because I feel its unsafe to drive not knowing if an unsuspecting crack will cause the vehicle to become disabled or if a tire would blow, causing loss of control. If BMW maintains historical data on tire conditions, you will see how often, sometimes daily or weekly, that the PSI is low. BMW has to know about this flaw, as forums on bimmers, Facebook and Reddit have many discussions. For a 160k vehicle BMW should own the issue and cover replacement cost for new rims.

TIRES
These tires were Factory on vehicle. Made Tom Bush BMW in Florida on Atlantic Avenue aware of this problem. [XXX] specifically GM [XXX] All FOUR tires at and/or before service at 8,500 miles were BALD and/or bad with a Mother driving vehicle. Vehicle is not raced on a track, course and/or road. Imagine spending 4k ever 8-9 thousand miles? Approximate cost to replace is $3,500.00-$4,000.0 The Pirelli P Zero PZ4 is a run-flat tire that comes on the front of the 2023 BMW XM Base. The tire size is 275/40R22XL 107Y BSW. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2024 BMW XM. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the low tire pressure warning light illuminated. Roadside Assistance towed the vehicle to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the front driver’s and passenger’s rims were cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but four months later, the rear passenger’s and driver’s rims cracked. The vehicle was towed back to the same dealer, where it was determined that the rims were cracked. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 4,000.

Safety recall issued in February and still no fix to the problem. I’m having to push down hard on my breaks to stop from collision daily.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
Vehicle: 2025 BMW XM Red Label Mileage: Approx. 2,000 miles VIN: [XXX] Dealer: Fields BMW of Winter Park (Winter Park, FL) I am filing a formal complaint regarding what I believe to be a critical design flaw and safety issue in my 2025 BMW XM, The vehicle was purchased brand new and has been driven minimally (approx. 2,000 miles), and never involved in any collisions or damage. I recently brought the vehicle in to the dealership for a hybrid battery charging issue, and was shocked to be told that the front collision sensor and its mounting bracket were broken due to an “impact.” These components are located in front of the car in the Very bottom of the Grill, Despite the claim of impact damage, the dealership confirmed there is no visible damage to the grill, bumper, or hood. There are also no reports or indications that the vehicle ever struck anything. I am confident that no such event ever occurred. This raises serious concerns about the placement and protection of safety-critical components. If a front sensor—central to crash avoidance or driver assistance features—can be compromised without any external damage to the vehicle, this presents a significant engineering flaw. It could lead to unexpected failure of essential safety systems. I was quoted $2,800 for this repair, which BMW USA has declined to cover. This appears to be a case of poor sensor design and vulnerability, not user-caused damage. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue to determine if this flaw could affect other 2025 BMW XM models or similar vehicles. These sensors must be adequately protected to ensure driver and passenger safety. The contact owns a 2024 BMW XM. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH the vehicle was shaking. The roll over, chassis, and improper steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the shaking. The vehicle was repaired by removing and replacing the tires; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the control arm needed to be replaced; however, the part was not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,200.
