Summary

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2025 Acura RDX vehicles. The software for the electric power steering (EPS) assist may not be calibrated properly, which can cause the EPS system to enter a failsafe mode, resulting in a loss of power steering assist.

Consequence

A loss of power steering assist can require greater steering effort, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy

Dealers will reprogram the EPS software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 20, 2025. Owners may contact Honda's customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is GMS. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning September 11, 2025.

STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES,LANE DEPARTURE

The problem I am reporting I found reported on the internet. My dashboard lite up with power steering and brake warning lights and told me to contact the dealer. Power steering was lost and braking power diminished. Pulled over and restarted the car several times and steering and braking came back but the warning lights still on. After sitting for an hour while we ate the car started with no warnings and brakes and steering functioning. From what I saw on the internet the problem stems from when the LKAS system is turned on. I found on your site my VIN has the issue I described above. Why hasn't Acura contacted me about the problem ? Seems irresponsible.

As I was driving down the highway, I heard a loud noise that sounded like an explosion of some sort I was going about 65 miles an hour on the expressway [XXX] and [XXX], when I realized that my sunroof had to have shattered. I pulled off the highway and confirmed this. Luckily, my headliner was closed and all the glass that shattered was inside of that. The weather was sunny, I was not under an overpass or something fell on the glass nor did anything fly up and hit the glass. It just shattered for no reason. I immediately contacted the Acura dealership in Jacksonville, which was my destination and was informed in a couple days that not only was that not a warranty item but also the sunroof was on backorder with no ETA of its delivery The car is drivable obviously, but not if it rain as it would rain in my car and destroy my headliner. I went back to my home in Hendersonville, NC was able to find a sunroof repair company that had my sunroof model in stock and it was replaced. However, when I contacted the dealership in Hendersonville, they told me the same thing that they had no idea when the sunroof would be in so it was left to me to resolve the situation. I had filed a report with Acura asking them to replace and pay for a new sunroof. I have made a complaint and I have a claim number. I’m waiting for resolution. This issue involves the decorative aluminum trim on the steering wheel. The aluminum trim is highly reflective and installed at an angle on the steering wheel spokes. In bright sunlight and at certain angles of the sun there is a very strong light reflection into the drivers eyes. This has caused temporary blindness until the position of the car changes or you put a hand over that part of the trim. The lower spoke (at about the 6 o'clock position) is the worst. Since it is a design flaw, I have not reported it to the dealer.

Full analysis: how to read the Acura RDX recall history
Year range, common components, complaint patterns, and how to use this page.

Understanding the Acura RDX recall history

The Acura RDX currently has 1 recall campaign and 36 owner complaints indexed from the NHTSA public database. Each recall represents a formal campaign to fix a defect at no cost to the current owner. Owner complaints are self-reported incidents that haven't (yet) resulted in a recall but can indicate emerging patterns worth watching.

The most frequent recall category for the RDX in our dataset is steering (1). These clusters matter when you're shopping for a used RDX: recalls in these systems tend to be the ones most likely to have been skipped by previous owners, because they aren't always visible during a routine test drive or pre-purchase inspection.

The tracked recalls span model years 2025. Not every model year carries every recall. Each campaign is scoped to a specific year range and often a specific build window, which is why a VIN lookup is the only way to know whether a particular RDX is actually affected by any of these campaigns.

NHTSA's complaint database for the RDX records 1 crash report, 1 fire report. Complaint data is unverified and shouldn't be read as a blanket condemnation of the model (large production volumes naturally produce more reports), but it is useful for spotting whether a specific defect has a serious real-world pattern behind it.

How to use this page

The safest path for an owner is to run your VIN through the checker above. A VIN query hits NHTSA's live API and tells you whether your specific RDX has an open, unresolved recall. If you're researching a used RDXbefore buying, use the recall list below to understand the model's full history, then check the seller's VIN to see whether prior owners actually completed the free repairs. Many don't, and unresolved recalls can linger for years.

Figures are generated live from the RecallScanner dataset, which is sourced from NHTSA's public recall and complaint APIs and refreshed daily. RecallScanner is independent and not affiliated with Acura or any U.S. government agency.
